Windows 2000 time patch
There is also a separate patch for Microsoft Exchange that can be downloaded here. This patch requires Exchange SP1 to be installed.
Like the standard Windows patch the installation of this patch does not require a reboot of your system, but it does require your Exchange Information Store to be restarted. If servers in your Exchange environment are clustered, you will need to follow the steps for a standard cluster installation. These steps involve moving all of your cluster resources off of one node at a time, then stopping the cluster service on that node before applying the patch. This patch may cause the Send As issue described in this article , if you have not applied any of the other patches that add this behavior to Exchange.
If you are unsure whether you have previously applied patches that cause the Send As issue, you can check the version of your store. If you version is lower than If you are running Exchange or Exchange 5. Microsoft asks that you contact your Microsoft account manager, or a technical account manager for assistance with these products. One last thing you will need to do in your Exchange environment is the running of the Outlook Time Zone Data Update Tool available here.
This will update the appointments scheduled during the new DST period. This tool does not require administrator privileges to run, just a defined MAPI Outlook profile to that users mailbox. Because it will be very difficult to verify that all of your users run this, Microsoft has released the Exchange Calendar Update Tool. Technically this tool is simply a wrapper for the Outlook Tool that allows you to run it against all your users or a group of users in one batch.
This tool does require a good deal of configuration to run, and goes well beyond the scope of this article. Your portable Windows devices will also require updates.
If you synchronize your device with a PC, you simply install the update on your PC when your device is connected. These steps are slightly different for smart phones versus Pocket PC's. You will want to check the article from Microsoft to verify the steps for changing the time zone if you are unsure. If you are using an older Windows CD device, you will need to manually change the time. This is done under Date Time Properties.
While there you will also need to uncheck the option to automatically update for Daylight Saving Time. Unfortunately, you will need to make this change twice a year when DST rolls around. Is there an issue? Can you tell me what the Oct patch changed? Thanks Mike. I would try to download it again. That usually happens if half the file is missing. It should work fine on NT 4. Hi, The md5 is 3dbfca98e4b1e7dfa4b69f5. It executes in Vista but I get that error under NT4.
We will take a look. Possibly our compiler is setting a switch that does not allow NT 4 execution. Usually yes…not because windows needs it, but because most applications are not smart enough to re-read the DST settings. When trying to apply the patch to a Windows NT server, I get the error about the file not being a valid NT application file. The downloaded size of the file is KB. I downloaded it twice and got a file of the same size both times.
Thank you for this tool, i just had to re-build a Windows server, and i was dreading hacking through the registry fix manualy.. Please tell me you are going to do another for the one on NOV 7 of …Now that there is no support we may get nothing from MS. I miss 2k, vista64 drives me nuts with its disk subsystem and unsigned driver BS. Just wanted to chime in and say thank you for this. Worked great on a Win2K server we still have running.
After installing the daylight saving fix on Windows XP my outlook crashes every time google calendar sync tries to sync my calendars. Please help me with this. Ive also tried the official microsoft KB fix. You will need to install the latest patches for Outlook as well — it too has its own DST issues. If you are noticing that you are still an hour off after clicking this…it means your computer still needs to be patched. If your computer is already patched…it might mean your computer is joined to a domain, and the domain controller needs to be patched.
Now in , Windows has finally reached the end of its extended support phase to become an unsupported operating system release. In line with our security mandate, HPC:Factor has decided to generate and maintain a patching list for Windows Professional from now until Windows patch issuing is discontinued completely. It is not deemed necessary to add an installation guide to this document, and there are no plans to add one in the future.
To mark the transition of Windows into end of life, this guide has been updated as of October to reflect the strongest level of technologies available for Windows users many of which are not available through Windows Update as well as to update the critical updates list with the final patches from Windows Update.
The following list of updates will provide you with the highest level of security available to Windows The Approximate total download size of all the listed updates is MB. This guide assumes a certain level of system components have already been updated. Failure to install these prerequisite items before continuing with the patch process will impact significantly upon the effectiveness of this guide.
